| Mardi Gras Queen |
|
My name is Patti (Kiefer) Domalakes. I have lived in Frackville all of my 40 plus years (minus my 4 years at Drexel University). My family was among the first settlers of the town over 130 years ago.
I have been nominated to be Frackville Mardi Gras Queen 2006. The Frackville Mardi Gras will be held on February 25, 2006 all proceeds of which will benefit the Frackville Library. My sole job is to raise money for the Library. As little as $1/vote will allow you to vote for me as Mardi Gras Queen but those first 75 people donating $15 or more will receive a coupon for a box of free Mrs. T's Pierogies.
All donations are tax deductible and checks can be made out to Frackville Free Public Library and sent to the Frackville Library, 56 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville PA 17931. "Patti Domalakes for Queen" should be noted on the check. Donations should be sent by February 24, 2006 to arrive in time for the Mardi Gras but will be accepted at any time.

| Ten Reasons Why I Like Frackville |
|
1. For such a small town, it has a remarkably competent, dedicated and helpful library staff which staffs an active, pleasant kid and adult-friendly library.
2. FRACKVILLE is surrounded by woods which makes for great Sunday afternoon walks and presents a breathtaking view from Interstate 81 as you gaze upon "the town on top of the mountain."
3. I can WALK - and SAFELY I might add - to church, school, grocery store, uptown, the library or to visit relatives.
4. I know my doctors, lawyer, plumber, carperter, electrician, oil/coal man, garbage man, borough workers, mayor, dry cleaners, florists, teachers and store owners by first name because, in most cases, I've known them all my life.
5. Where else can you drop your house/car keys on a snow bank while sleigh riding with your kids at 8PM only to have them returned by the part-time policeman the next night saying they were turned in by a kid? By the way, only "Patti" appears on the key chain - no address or last name.
6. The townspeople are friendly, genuine and there in time of need as well as every other time.
7. Whipoorwill Dam which sits on the outskirts of town. It's great for ice skating in the winter and for picnics and fishing in the summer.
8. The weather. It's typically 5 degrees cooler in the summer and 5 degrees colder in the winter than the towns around us. We have the greatest snowfalls!
9. Where else can you keep a pair of cross country skis in your foyer from November thru March and hop on them day or night for a quick or long romp through the streets?
10. Unlike some suburbs I know of, Frackville has deep roots - 130 years worth - which have produced solid individuals with core beliefs and outstanding ethics who have either remained in Frackville or have gone on to other parts of the country to make it the great nation we have become.
